This year Holland College hosted over 750 delegates for the Association of Canadian Community Colleges conference. Planning was a two year process and involved both a national and host committee, and the level of service provided by the PEI Convention Partnership was exceptional. From setting up meetings with service providers to welcoming our delegates at the airport with homemade cookies, they went above and beyond to ensure our conference went off without a hitch. ACCC President James Knight said that the comment he heard most during and after the conference was that it was the “best ACCC conference ever”. We have indeed raised the bar for all conferences to come.
In 2007 I had contacted the PEI Convention Partnership in hopes of obtaining services for a National Conference that I was planning for 300+ delegates in 2009. The team of very skilled professionals gave me much more that I had expected. They had a vast knowledge base of what a successful and memorable conference looked like. Initially, I had assumed that I would have just one to two meetings with them, but to my great surprise they remained with me during the two year planning process providing me with a wealth of information. The PEI Convention Partnership offers a tremendous service, and is a valuable asset to those hosting events in our Province. They truly know how to make our wonderful Island shine. My conference was a tremendous success!!!
In January, 2009, UPEI hosted the AGM for the Canadian Nursing Students’ Association. We met with the PEI Convention Partnership about a year and a half prior to the conference and are extremely thankful for having done so! They helped us prepare a presentation for a bid to host the national conference (which we won)! They also set up numerous appointments for us to view venues for the week long conference events. During the week of the conference, they had welcome signs for our delegates all over the city of Charlottetown. The delegates (who came from every province and territory in Canada), as well as some international guests, were thrilled by both this as well as the welcome at the airport as they each arrived. The conference was listed by many as the most exciting, successful and fun conference ever held in the history of CNSA (more than 40 years). Over 80% of the nearly 500 delegates had never been to PEI before and many of them are already dreaming of a return trip to PEI!
The PEI Convention Partnership is truly an amazing tool to work with when organizing a meeting on the island. My first impression was, “really, you will help me find a venue for our meeting. Wow!” It wasn’t easy letting go at first, but then I realized the potential for using this service. My experience with PEI Convention Partnership was very positive and productive. I would recommend it to anyone! |
